Building Better Through Industry Conversation: Recapping the Future of Data Centers Panel

The data center industry is moving fast. Keeping pace requires more than individual expertise, it takes strong relationships, open conversation, and a willingness to learn from the people solving these challenges every day. On July 29th, Porter Family Companies hosted The Future of Data Centers: Industry Leadership Panel at the PFC Culture Space in Addison, bringing together contractors, partners, customers, and industry leaders for an afternoon of networking and discussion around the rapidly evolving data center market.

The conversation featured Dale Lewis, Director of Data Center Development at Boldt Company, and Bill Winsininski, Strategic Advisor – Data Center at CWC Consultants, with Matt O’Hare of Power Construction moderating the discussion. Together, they brought perspectives spanning development, construction, infrastructure planning, and decades of experience within the mission-critical industry.

Creating Space for Real Industry Conversation

The goal was simple: bring the right people into the same room and create an opportunity for an honest conversation about where the industry is headed.

The discussion explored the realities shaping today’s data center market, current growth and infrastructure challenges to project delivery, workforce development, and what industry partners need to be thinking about as demand continues to evolve. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions directly and continue those conversations during networking.

More important than any single takeaway was the exchange of perspectives between people working across different parts of the industry. As attendee Stephen Dockerty shared following the event: “It was a really insightful, objective and real world experience. I definitely came away much more informed than going in.” That is exactly the kind of outcome we hoped to create.

Relationships Move the Industry Forward

The Conversation Continues

The Midwest remains one of the country’s most important data center markets, and the pace of development continues to put greater pressure on schedules, infrastructure, coordination, and the partners supporting each build.
